What is GDS?

These are postal employees working in rural areas across India. These GDS employees pays various roles in India post office mostly in rural areas some my deployed in cities as well. GDS roles including mail delivery, financial transaction handling and assisting in postal operations.

Job profile for GDS / ABPM/ BPM

Branch post Master Job profile -

-BPM will administrative/ handle branch Post office 

-He will be responsible for various postal schemes like Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana, FDs, postal saving accounts in short he will take care entire postal work of Gram Panchayat.

- He will be also responsible for book post, speed posts, Money orders etc..

Assistant Branch Post Master Job profile -

-ABPM will report to BPM and he will assist BPM in various task.

- He will be involved in sale of stamps, stationary, IPPB deposit/payments/ other transactions and delivery of mail etc..

- It ABPM will perform BPM combined duty as well.

Garmin Dak Sevak Job profile -

- GDS is involved in all functions like sale of stamps, transfer and delivery of mail and any other duties assigned to post office/RMS by Postmaster or sub postmaster.

-He will help in working of all task assigned by supervising authority like marketing, procurement or anything assigned by supervising authority.

- GDS may work in RMS ( Railway Mail Services ) department as well such as opening and closing of Mail bags, transport of bags from one place to other place and any other work assigned by RMS authority.


GDS Salary structure 

The postal GDS , Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000/- per month this may vary depending upon division allocated and some other factors.

It's a common question amongst all aspirants who are applying for GDS openings. Here are some below points which will help you to decide 

- India Post office is  Government organization. So if you're looking for sarkari Naukri having 10th pass qualification then it's a good opportunity.

- GDS Salary structure includes basic pay , allowances and other benefits like medical facilities and leaves. The government also gives increments on time to time basis along with other benefits.

- GDS is not full time job in your spare time you can do your other jobs as well.

- Appointed GDS will have good opportunity to apply for higher position based on their qualification for internal opening through various internal India post exams.
