New tax regime declared under budget 2025 declared by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman there will be again two options new and old tax regime. As per new tax slab income up to RS 1200000/- will be tax free.
Person with income of Rs12 lkh used to pay a tax around Rs 80,000. As per Budget 2025 proposed tax will be now Rs 60,000. The remaining tax will be Rs 20000. Under this new tax structure, government given tax rebate, which means the net tax payable will be zero for that person.
Feathermore, under new tax regime income up to Rs 400000/- is tax-free. Also, annual limit of Rs 2.4 lakh for TDS on rent raised to Rs 6 lakh. The finance minister also increased the standard deduction from Rs50,000 to RS 75,000 also for family pensioners from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in parliament “I propose to revise tax rate structures as follows: 0 to ₹4 Lakhs - nil, ₹4 Lakhs to ₹8 Lakhs - 5%, ₹8 Lakhs to ₹12 Lakhs - 10%, ₹12 Lakhs to ₹16 Lakhs - 15%, ₹16 Lakhs to ₹20 Lakhs - 20%, ₹20 Lakhs to ₹24 Lakhs - 25% and above ₹24 Lakhs - 30%. To taxpayers up to ₹12 Lakhs of normal income other than special rate income such as capital gains, a tax rebate is being provided in addition to the benefit due to slab rate reduction in such a manner that there is no tax payable by them,”
